Zaha Hadid

 

            Dame Zaha Mohammad Hadid was an Iraqi- British Architect, Artist and Designer. Recognized as a major figure in Architecture of the late of 20th and early 21st Centuries.

HEYDAR ALIYEV CENTER, BAKU, AZERBAIJAN (2012)

            The Hydar Aliyev Center is a 57,500 m2 building complex in Baku, Azerbaijan designed by her and noted for its distinctive architectural and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles.

GUANGZHOU OPERA HOUSE, GUANGZHOU, CHINA (2010)

            About the Guangzhou's cultural sites development, a lasting - state of the Art moment to the new millennium over looking the pearl river. It's contoured profile, unique twin boulder design and approach promenade enhance urban function, opens access to the riverside and dock areas and create a new dialogue with the emerging town".

SHEIKH ZAYED BRIDGE, ABU DHABI (2010)

            As she said about the design of the bridge: "Design and construction of a third gateway crossing linking Abu-Dhabi Island to the Gulf south shore. Our two-way four lane highway bridge features cantilevered road decks suspended from symmetrical steal arches, which form a sinusoidal waveform, giving this huge structure its fluid silhouette".

Awards:

  • In 1982 she got Gold Medal Architectural Design, British Architecture.

  • In 2000 she got RIBA Award.

  • in 2004 The Architect of the year, Blueprint Award along with RIBA Award and many more.

            These are just a drop in a river of her life time achievements and Awards to this enormous, huge Architect. I wish one day I could have just a small influence as she did to the world of the Architecture and design.
